New Trampoline Park to open in Colchester

Jump Street, Essex’s first sole-purpose trampoline park, will open on Cowdray Park in Colchester this summer, in time for the summer holidays. 125 interconnecting trampolines create a 20,000 sq ft bounce space which will include free-bounce areas, basketball nets, a foam pit and two dodgeball courts. Jumpers will need to be over five years old and wear specially designed, non-slip socks within the bounce area. Trained safety staff will supervise and parents can watch from the café on the mezzanine floor.

Trampoline parks are relatively new in the UK but are on the increase following their popularity in the United States and Australia. Trampolining is the latest fitness craze for adults to hit the UK as it’s lots of fun and proven to improve cardiovascular fitness, balance and coordination. Jump Street plans to offer a varied programme of fitness classes for adults. The park will also be available for corporate away days, team building and charity dodgeball matches.

Sam Bartlett, owner, said: “We’re working really hard to create a park that is exciting and exhilarating while making sure it leads the way in safety standards. We want to make it comfortable for the parents and adults using it as well as being suitable and engaging for children. It’s a huge project that will be well worth the effort. We’ve seen the popularity in Australia and we’re keen to make this type of safe, healthy fun available to the people of Essex as soon as we can.”
