Nanna Kays - The UK's first hand made nutritionally balanced ready meals for children
Nanna Kay's was developed by two women from Essex who are challenging the giants of the food industry by developing the UK’s first, hand made, nutritionally balanced, ready meals for children .
Mum Donna Tresadern and Grandmother Kay Shearing developed the dishes after Donna gave birth to premature twin girls. “There was nothing on the shelves that I could give them when I didn’t have the time to spend hours in the kitchen preparing nutriutious meals from scratch” says Donna. “So I spoke with mum who is a fantastic cook and we developed dishes that we could cook over the weekend and freeze for when I was running late”
All of Nanna Kay’s meals provide children with one third of their daily nutrients and as they are hand made they have no additives or preservatives which is often the problem with mass produced food. They are frozen so that the nutrition is locked in without the need for additives or gases to give them a long shelf life.The women currently supply one of the UK’s largest nursery chains and are in discussions with major retailers.
