Flight Reader Review

Reader reviewer quote

Flight draws us into a magical hour where young and old alike can stretch their imaginations

Flight took us on a whimsical journey from the innocence of childhood to the wonder of the world as seen through the eyes of an adult. The story is a sequel to the well-known book 'The Little Prince' by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, and expertly presented by California based theatre company, Curbside.

Thanks to simple staging, our attention was held throughout by the narrator's distinct voice combined with the athletic poses created by the energetic trio of physical performers Ezra LeBank, Cynthia Price and Taylor Casas. The imaginative storytellers transformed themselves into the sea itself, not to mention the many and colourful characters we met as the Little Prince journeyed from island to island.

The performers started the show by inviting the audience to participate by saying 'hmmm' and 'ahhh' when they heard the words 'forget' and 'remember', and then seamlessly began weaving their magic. Flight draws us into a magical hour where young and old alike can stretch their imaginations.

The show is rated 'Universal' and is suitable for ages four and up. My six year old son and I both thoroughly enjoyed the performance yesterday at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe at the Assembly Roxy - Downstairs. It was a packed house, and well attended by family groups. The venue is intimate, so we recommend arriving early to avoid disappointment! For families with young children, there are bean bag chairs in the pop up garden and bar outside the venue that were being enjoyed by children with parents waiting in the queue!
