Loretto invites families to visit school following a glowing inspection and exam results
Leading independent boarding and day school Loretto is inviting families to discover its first-class offering. Scotland’s oldest boarding school, based in Musselburgh, combines an individualised approach to education with a welcoming and nurturing environment designed to help young people thrive.
The open events follow a successful summer for the Musselburgh school, coming in the wake of an excellent inspection by His Majesty’s Inspectorate for Education, which saw the school praised for its welcoming and nurturing environment that supports young people to thrive.
The inspection’s positive review was reinforced by a strong academic performance in this year’s exam grades; 80.4% of A Level pupils achieved A*- C grades, with 100% of school leavers going on to their destination of choice, marking a standout year for the school that also saw a record pupil intake.

A relaxed lunch for the Senior School, and afternoon tea for the Juniors, will also be available for guests to enjoy alongside the Head, teaching staff and pupils, reinforcing the school’s strong sense of community. Pete believes it is this welcoming school culture, alongside Loretto’s wider offering, that has contributed to a circa 20% year-on-year increase in pupil admissions.
