Give your family a New Year to remember with Edinburgh’s Hogmanay
With family ceilidhs, the iconic Torchlight Procession, First Footin’ music trail and more!
Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations are just around the corner, with plenty of family-friendly events spread across four magical days throughout the city — the perfect chance to create memories that last a lifetime.
The Torchlight Procession on 29 December is worthy of becoming a family tradition, with Vikings, pipers, drummers, and torchbearers weaving a river of fire through the historic Old Town and sparking the start of the four-day Hogmanay celebrations.
Later in the festivities, the Assembly Rooms becomes the Hogmanay Festival Club, with the afternoon of the 31st featuring a host of ceilidh bands that transform the historic venue into the Bairns’ Hogmanay Ceilidh Club.
Starting the New Year right has never been easier, thanks to Edinburgh’s Hogmanay free programme on 1 January. First Footin’ fills the city’s venues with top live gigs, while Sprogmanay sees the National Museum of Scotland become a hub of family-focused arts and crafts, with Assembly Roxy hosting a family ceilidh just a short walk away.
As 2025 is drawing to an end, Edinburgh’s Hogmanay has the perfect events lined up for you and your family to see out the year and welcome in the new one.
