George Watson’s College Junior School Admissions

They are delighted to welcome applications to all year groups in the Junior School, with the largest intakes being in Preschool, Primary 1, Primary 6 and Primary 7. Assessments – What to expect: Each application is carefully considered on an individual basis. The assessment is not an exam, it is a measure of your child’s capabilities based on their education to date.

The assessments are age and stage appropriate and differ depending on the year group being applied to. Primary 1: One-to-one interview with a member of the early years staff where they take part in interactive games and activities.

Primary 2 – Primary 3: One-to- one interview where children talk with the member of staff and undertake literacy and numeracy- based activities.

Primary 4 – Primary 7: Children sit assessment papers in both English and mathematics. Primary 6 and Primary 7 children are asked to participate in a short group discussion led by a teacher.

As always, the Admissions Team is available to answer any questions you may have around the application process: admissions@gwc.org.uk or 0131 446 6005
