Harmonising Tradition and Talent: The Choristers of St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral

To be a chorister of St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral is to be part of a unique tradition in Scotland, dating back to the Cathedral’s foundation in 1879. Eighteen boys and girls from P5-S2 form the treble line of the internationally-renowned choir.

Educated at St Mary’s Music School, Scotland’s only specialist music school, coupled with the experience of singing daily in the Cathedral, choristers are trained as professional singers, experiencing many opportunities from concerts to international tours, CD recordings to BBC Radio broadcasts.

"Becoming a chorister was definitely one of the best decisions of my life ... The skills of time management and the sense of discipline that it instils are second to none.” (Emily Jarron, ex-chorister).
