On Saturday 12th March, Derby Grammar School will be holding their 4th annual Food Fayre and Open Day, with a host of stall holders selling delicious produce from across the local area and beyond.
Organised by the Derby Grammar School PTA, the Food Fayre will see a gathering of many of the area’s finest food and drink retailers, including Belper’s top secret afternoon tea venue, Rachel’s Secret Tea Room, Mickleover’s Hackwood Farm selling a selection of quality meats, and for those with a sweet tooth, master chocalatier Barry Colenso.
Visitors will be able to enjoy delicious sweet and savoury crêpes from Ooh La Laa, homemade fudge from Melbourne’s Fortey’s Fudge and a barbecue organised by the School’s Tanzania 2016 Team (with all proceeds going to the Tanzania fund). There will also be a number of stalls selling wines from around the world, as well as Corkscrewed offering tips on wine tasting. Beer drinkers can enjoy real ales from the successful Darley Abbey-based mirco brewery, Derventio.
With over 20 stalls in total, the Food Fayre will bring together a fantastic selection of food and drinks – with something to satisfy every taste and appetite!
There’s no admittance charge, and the Food Fayre is open to everyone, from 10am – 3pm. In addition to the delights on offer from the stall holders, the PTA will be selling refreshments to raise funds for the school.
During the day there will also be opportunities to tour the school, speak with staff and students, and experience a taste of Derby Grammar School life. Headmaster Richard Paine will be giving talks to prospective parents and students, and there will be plenty to see and do in various departments throughout the school.
This is the fourth time that the School and the PTA have run this event, and following the success of previous year’s, the response has been phenomenal! Caroline Euston, Chair of the PTA, says “We’re really looking forward to the Food Fayre, it’s bigger than ever this year with some fantastic local artisan producers attending. Combined with live entertainment and cookery demonstrations throughout the day by local chef Chris Parry, there’s something for everyone. The money raised on the day will really boost our fundraising efforts towards a new school mini-bus”.
