Carlisle spooky Halloween ball in aid of local charity

Over 200 adults and children got dressed up in their spookiest attire and got their dancing shoes on for a good cause as Razzamataz Carlisle held a charity ball to support their students on Saturday 31st October at Shepherds Inn, Carlisle.

The Ball was held to raise funds for the part-time theatre school’s own charity, Future Fund. As part of its commitment to its students, Razzamataz launched the ‘Future Fund’ to present to a Razzamataz student in their final year of school looking to progress their performing ambitions. The aim is that Razzamataz can provide some financial assistance to a former student who wishes to attend a performing arts college.  In September of this year, 2 local girls whom have attended Razzamataz Carlisle from a young age were the first to benefit from the charity.  Lauryn Jamieson (18) and Megan Wharton (16) were awarded a grant from the charity which allowed them to accept places at prestigious performing arts schools Rose Bruford and the MGA Academy of performing arts.

All the schools within the Razzamataz network, which is supported by Dragons’ Den star Duncan Bannatyne, have been busy building up the Future Fund pot with many fundraising activities from running half marathons to PJ days.

“The Razzamataz Future Fund charity is a wonderful opportunity for a young performer and I wish all students applying the best of luck,” says Razzamataz supporter Duncan Bannatyne. “This is a terrific way of supporting the arts in the UK and Razzamataz should be very proud of their efforts.”

The Halloween Ball was a night full of fun for the family and included performances from all the students and a very special performance from some very special stars in the making, our ‘Razzamadads’ The group of 8 dads gave up their time to rehearse a showstopping performance of the ‘Time Warp’ which provided entertainment for the audience and was a highlight of the night.

“I’m incredibly proud to be part of the Future Fund charity and really believe we will be changing many people’s lives,” says Denise Hutton-Gosney, MD and Founder of Razzamataz. “It is very expensive to go on to college to study performing arts and it takes real dedication, commitment and talent to secure a place so it will be an honour to help support students through their training. Who knows, maybe one day in the future, one of our little Razz Minis currently aged four will be the recipient of the Future Fund Award.”

As well as hosting this exciting Ball in Carlisle, the team at Razzamataz in Carlisle are gearing up to take part in Tough Mudder next year to raise money for the charity.
