10am to 5pm. Explore how Beatrix drew inspiration for her tales from the pets and people in her life. Beatrix’s manuscript for 'The Tale of Two Bad Mice' (1904), her sketches, finalised artworks and the dolls’ accessories which inspired them are all displayed together. At the centre of the display is the newly restored dolls’ house, filled with the food and accessories featured in The Tale of Two Bad Mice. Watch animations of Beatrix’s much loved mice and enjoy hands on fun with a replica dolls’ house. Fresh from the National Trust’s conservation studio at Knole, the dolls’ house and its contents are back on display looking their best. Use interactive lighting to spotlight individual rooms and key objects. You can also watch a behind the scenes film revealing the specialist techniques used to conserve and restore the dolls’ house and its treasures.
