We have rounded up some links to fantastic resources and activities from local businesses, charities and organisations in Cornwall to help with home learning as well as fun stuff to pass the time.  If you have any other ideas that you have come across and would like us to include, please email us with your suggestions!

 

The Museum of Cornish Life in Helston have produced a number of activity sheets inspired by their museum collection including archaeology snap cards, colouring sheets, craft activities and much, much more.  Find out more here: 

Kids can recreate their own version of East Pool Mine near Redruth via the National Trust website.  See the resource here.

The National Maritime Museum in Falmouth have transferred their popular Make and Take crafting sessions online so that you can keep the little ones busy and creative during this time with a number of sea-themed puppet ideas with instructions

The Cornish archive facility Kresen Kernow in Redruth have produced a range of resources and activities for home learning.   These include creative challenges and the tools to start your own family history project.  You can also view historic Cornish photographs online.  Find out more here.

Libraries across Cornwall are offering limited physical services during this time, check the social media of your local library for the latest updates.  Your library membership will, however give you access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, magazines newspapers and more.  Find out more about how to access these facilities here.

If your family fancy learning a new project during this time, why not take try learning a bit of Cornish.  The Go Cornish website is a comprehensive resource for learning common phrases with audio support for pronunciation help.    In addition the Cornish Magi App, available on Apple and Android, is aimed at children and is full of fun and easy language learning activities.

'Eden at Home' is a vast bank of free resources and ideas produced by the Eden Project for children and adults with plant and nature related videos, tips and activities.  Find out more here

Newquay Zoo have produced some excellent downloadable educational 'Wild At Home' resources containing downloadable educational, craft and environmentally focussed activities which have been separated into all ages as well as Key Stage 1 and 2 activities.  Find out more and download here.  You can also view the Wild Planet Trust's  brand new online lessons, released each Friday on their YouTube channel.

Local theatre company Kneehigh have created a number of creative challenges on You Tube as part of their 'Windows To The World' series.  Find out more and view here

The Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust have launched their 'Stay At Home Hero' campaign for supporters to create their own superhero using what they can find at home whilst raising money for charity.  They have also produced downloadable activity sheets.  Find out more here.

Local surf therapy charity The Wave Project has produced a series of downloadable activity books full of recipes, crafts, games, books and movies.  Find out more and download here. 

The Mayflower 400 organisation and the Argyle Community Trust have produced the 'e-learning Sporting Voyage'  with home challenges combining religious studies, history and sporting activities as well as an opportunity to learn more about the history of Plymouth and the surrounding area.  There is also the opportunity to enter competitions.  Find out more here.

Bodmin Keep (Cornwall's Army Museum) have a virtual tour of their site online and have produced a series of learning resources named 'Keep Kids' which are full of interesting facts, activities and links to historic film clips.
