Flex your curious side at Dunham Massey

A Steam Star Storms into Town

Batten down the hatches, Peppercorn Class A1 60163 “Tornado” is returning to the East Lancashire Railway for the first time since 2010. The legendary locomotive is Britain’s newest steam engine built in 2008, yet despite her youth, she has already become an icon, finding fame in “Top Gear” and the 2017 family feature film “Paddington 2”, as well as being the first locomotive to reach 100MPH in 50 years. “Tornado” will take to the tracks alongside another engine that appeared in the Paddington Bear sequel, LMS Hughes Fowler Crab 2-6-0 No. 13065 “The Crab”, providing a chance to see and ride behind two big screen stars! Will you go over to the Dark Side at Jodrell Bank?

Visit Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre this half term and discover the dark side of the Universe! Unravel the mysteries of space and learn all about dark matter in a brand new live science show packed full of experiments and demonstrations. You can also quiz a resident astronomer in one of their popular Meet the Expert sessions, learn all about the giant Lovell Telescope in a special walking tour, and under 5s can explore the solar system in a fun interactive session in the Centre’s Clockwork Orrery. Good times ahead as Peppa arrives at Llangollen Railway

Time to jump in muddy puddles as Peppa Pig comes to Llangollen Railway on the 24th & 25th March! Go along and see Peppa, everyone’s favourite little pig, who will be appearing at various intervals throughout both days between 10.30am-3.30pm and then take a ride on a steam train to Carrog to see a magic show. The family festival WayWord returns with a host of talent

Family arts festival, WayWord, produced by multi award-winning Storyhouse in Chester, has revealed its programme of events for families to explore this February half term. Highlights include Gruffalo illustrator Axel Scheffler, comedian and author David Baddiel, mercury prize winning band Kabantu, a silent disco, WayWord flicks film programme, family mini rave and free arts and crafts. Lambs herald spring at Reaseheath College

Families should flock to Reaseheath College, Nantwich, on 3rd/4th & 10th/11th March for their popular lambing weekends. Visitors of all ages can enjoy meeting the newborns and some may be lucky enough to experience a live birth! Around 1,000 lambs are expected, so there’s always lots of action. Reaseheath’s zoo is also open so there’s a full day of family fun on offer. The collection includes meerkats, lemurs, monkeys, otters, birds of prey, rabbits, guinea pigs, reptiles and fish. Calling all Superheroes & Princesses in training!

Gather your mystical powers and head to Blakemere Village this half term to follow their great new Superhero and Princess Trail. Go along dressed as your favourite character and buy a Trail form from the Visitor Information Centre before setting off to re-assemble the team who have been left stranded there after a magical spell has been lifted. The Cheshire Cookery School cooks up some tasty fun this half term

Love cooking? Then book your kids into the fabulous Kids Cookery Club for children aged 6-13 years. Running on the 13th, 14th and 15th February from 10am-3pm, children will learn all about different ingredients - where they come from, how and where they are grown and what they taste like! They will be cooking from around the world, making and eating food from places such as Italy, Spain, India and England.  It’s all about making fresh, homemade food from scratch; from bread and pasta through to baking cakes, biscuits and making butter cream. They’ll learn a lot and have masses of fun all at the same time! Prices are £45 per day or £110 for all three days. Explore the National Football Museum

Give your kids something to shout about this half term with a trip to the National Football Museum, open every day 10am-5pm.
