Potential Rockstars Wanted for Guildford Music Festival, no experience required!

On Sunday 10th September 2017 Rocksteady Music School are hosting a series of musical “Build a Band” workshops at “Always The Sun Festival” based in Stoke Park in Guildford. Taking place in the “All the World’s A Stage” area they are looking for people from aged 4 to 100 years old to come and join in the fun! It is an opportunity for someone who has always wanted to play to take to the stage and see what being in a band is all about. Rocksteady workshop times are 11.45am, 2.15pm & 5pm.

No prior musical experience is necessary! Using a unique music methodology the workshops aim to get you playing within 10 minutes, whether you choose to play electric guitar, drums, keyboards or prefer to sing.

Rocksteady believe that music is accessible to everyone and hope to introduce many more people to the joy of making music, or to begin with even just being able to unleash a gleeful noise!

Mark Robinson founder & director of Rocksteady Music School says “Within 5-10 minutes we can teach the majority of people, whatever their age to play a basic drumbeat, a few notes on the guitar or hit the right keys to take part in playing a song with others.”

Scott Monks CEO of Rocksteady commented “Learning to play music in a band based setting not only brings music to life but it also encourages crucial addition learnings such as team work, resilience and communication”

The Godalming based company is set upon leading a revolution in the way that music is being both taught and also enjoyed in primary schools, and with a focus on making it fun, relevant and accessible to all children at these key formative years. As it is now generally acknowledged as fact that the learning of music can have clear, tangible and positive benefits on a child’s overall academic achievement and self-confidence.

Over the course of a year they deliver free music assemblies and workshops to hundreds of thousands of children each year. Through their Rocksteady Foundation they also work alongside local charities looking to reach children and teenagers who would not usually get the chance to perform in a rock band and who would benefit the most from the experience.
