Caudwell Children, the Staffordshire based charity that provides practical and emotional support to disabled children and their families, has announced that it is offering disabled children and those with additional needs, in Staffordshire, FREE family tickets to three performances of the classic fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty.

Not only that each family will be given a FREE goody bag containing refreshments and chocolate donated by Thornton’s.

The performances will take place from 1pm-3pm at the following venues:

·         Sunday 2nd December, 2018, Queen Street Community Centre, Queen Street, Burton-on-Trent, DE14 3LW

·         Sunday 23rd December, 2018, The Northfield Centre, Magnolia Avenue, Stafford, ST16 3DU

·         Sunday 6th January, 2019, Bradnop Village Hall, School lane, Leek, ST13 7ND

Tickets are now available for children and young people aged 8-18, and with Family-of-Four tickets usually priced at £22 charity bosses are advising interested parents to book their FREE tickets now to avoid disappointment.

Julia Lunn, family services manager at Caudwell Children, says that Sleeping Beauty is a ‘must see’ production. As she explained: “Who doesn’t love the story of Princess Aurora and how the evil Maleficent lays a curse on her that puts her to sleep.

“There are some great characters in this show, like Flora the Fairy and Dame Dolly Dumpling, who really bring the pantomime to life and make it so much fun.

“The children will be captivated by the story and they’ll be able to boo that baddies and cheer the goodies.”

The show, funded by Staffordshire Council as part of their Aiming High programme, developed to provide disabled children with fun activities outside of school, will be delivered by Odd Socks Entertainment who specialise in touring Pantomimes.

Sarh-Jane, director of Odd Socks Entertainment, is delighted to be involved. As she explained: “The children are going to love the performance as our script is carefully written by us to ensure that the show is suitable for children of all ages.

“It also features a great musical score using the latest chart hits which the children will love and the performance is guaranteed to be topical and relevant.”

The production is part of Caudwell Children’s programme of activity days for disabled children. They have been devised to develop skills, confidence and self-esteem, whilst having fun.

Julia says that it’s extremely important that families seize the opportunity. She said: “Unbelievably 78% of disabled children in the UK have no access to activities outside of their house.

“This could be through a number of things, such as lack of provision or cost, so this is a great chance for children and their parents to get out and have some free fun in a fully accessible venue.”

If you live in Staffordshire you can book tickets through Aiming High on 0300 111 8007 (option 5).

Families outside the Staffordshire border can book their tickets directly through Caudwell Children, by ringing Julia on 01782 433730.
