National Fitness Day - free exercise sessions and gym visits in Charnwood

WORK OUT TO HELP YOUR HEALTH OUT ON NATIONAL FITNESS DAY

Fusion Lifestyle offers free gym, indoor swim or group exercise session

Fusion Lifestyle, the charity that works alongside Charnwood Borough Council to operate Loughborough Leisure Centre, Soar Valley Leisure Centre and South Charnwood Leisure Centre, is offering local residents the chance to get active on National Fitness Day with a free gym session, indoor swim or group exercise class.

National Fitness Day takes place on Wednesday 23rd September with the aim of encouraging the nation to celebrate the fun of fitness and physical activity across the UK, something more important than ever.

To claim your free session simply download the Fusion app and register your details and a free session will be added to your account from Tuesday 22nd September, ready for you to book online. These sessions will be valid from 23rd – 27th September.

The free visits are designed to get as many members of the community moving as possible but those unable to attend in person will also be encouraged to take part in an on the day challenge to complete as many push ups as they can in 60 seconds. The challenge can be completed from home or at a Fusion centre, allowing everyone to get active and healthy. Those who complete the most push ups will go into a draw to win a BOSU ball, kindly donated by Physical Company. Fusion is encouraging everyone who participates to share their challenges on social media and hashtag #FusionFitnessDay and #NationalFitnessDay in their post.

Free visits will need to be booked online to ensure all centres can continue to operate in line with government guidelines which allows for the test and trace process to be implemented. Gym users will be asked to arrive ready to work out, and swimmers with their costumes under their clothes, ready to go. These measures, combined with meticulous cleaning routines, are designed to keep customers safe and offer complete confidence to use the facilities when they return to the centres.

Anthony Cawley, Director of Operations at Fusion Lifestyle, said: “There has never been a more important time to look after the health and wellbeing of the nation and we want to take this small step to encourage members of the community to come into one of our centres free of charge. We want to remind them of the great leisure facilities on their doorstep, show them how safe their centres are and help them to get active”

Cllr Harper-Davies, lead member for community support and equalities added: “National Fitness Day is a great way to remind residents that exercising and keeping fit can be great fun but also vital for your physical and mental health. I hope lots of our residents take this opportunity to visit our leisure centres, see what measures have been put in place and use the high-quality facilities available to them.”

Bookings need to be made in advance by downloading the Fusion Lifestyle app or by visiting the centre websites and using the booking facility. These sessions will be valid from 23rd – 27th September.
