Introduce your wee one to the magical world of ballet
Children across Glasgow had the chance to experience a wonderful Wee version of Scottish Ballets Hansel and Gretel , at the Theatre Royal this month.
The show was produced in a shorter length (60 mins) which is perfect for young children. A fabulous introduction to the show was given, engaging the young audience immediately through interactive movement and audience participation! Intermissions were also made in the show to explain & describe the performance which was great for the children watching.
Lighting was kept on during the performance and there is no need to worry about your kids not sitting still or being noisy, so parents can relax and enjoy the show too.
The show starts with an innocent Hansel and Gretel , performed wonderfully by Constant Vigier and Alice Kawalek, following a beautiful ballerina to the magical gingerbread house in the middle of the forest. Once inside we are treated to a feast of wonderful food , with enchanting dancing teacakes and toys that come to life.
However the wicked witch, performed brilliantly by Madeline Squire, soon reveals herself , and locks up Hansel. She steals Hansel’s much loved teddy , but all is put right when Gretel saves Hansel and the wicked witch gets her comeuppance , much to the delight of the cheering children!
This is the perfect show to bring along your little ballet dancers to, or for children who simply enjoy a good traditional fairytale. Aimed at 3-8 year olds, it’s a brilliant way to introduce your wee one to the magical world of ballet.
