After a pilot run in November 2018, this year Scottish Ballet will take its specially adapted wee version of a big ballet, Wee Hansel & Gretel, on a nationwide tour to An Lanntair (Isle of Lewis), Macphail Centre (Ullapool), Theatre Royal (Glasgow), The Garrison Theatre (Shetland), Orkney Theatre, His Majesty’s Theatre (Aberdeen), King’s Theatre (Edinburgh), Beacon Arts Centre (Greenock), Eden Court Theatre (Inverness), and Dundee Rep.
In its 50th anniversary year, Scottish Ballet is proud to present performances right across Scotland, returning to the Highlands and Islands and creating the opportunity to visit new cities for the first time. To make this possible, the company is delighted to continue its partnership with Loganair as Official Airline Sponsor for this tour of Wee Hansel and Gretel.
Audiences will join Hansel & Gretel as they go on an adventure deep into the woods… Along the way they’ll meet a rather beguiling Witch and her mysterious raven, before arriving in an enchanted gingerbread house filled with dancing sweet treats and toys that come to life. This specially adapted 50-minute show is the perfect way for young children aged 3–8 years and their families to discover the magic of ballet.
