Enter the Edinburgh Schools Film Competition 2020!

Fancy making a five-minute film with your class? Then enter this year’s Edinburgh Schools Film Competition and get the chance for your movie to be shown on the big screen at a swanky awards ceremony at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

The competition is open to all pupils in council run Edinburgh, East, West and Midlothian schools and can be any genre; animations, awareness videos, comedy sketches, dramas, music videos, film trailers – the choice is yours. It is free to enter and there is no limit to the number of films that can be submitted by one school. Only films made within the last 12 months can be considered.

The judges are young people studying media studies at Edinburgh schools. Every shortlisted film is shown at a special screening and awards ceremony at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in June. There is a nursery/primary event and a secondary/special schools' event. Both are held during school time and all shortlisted entrants are invited to attend their screening at the Festival. Each school receives a certificate and all award winners receive a prize clapperboard.

The closing dates are 5pm Friday March 27 for nursery and primary schools, and 5pm Friday April 24 for secondary and special schools. All entries should be sent via WeTransfer to laura@screen-ed.org

Edinburgh Schools Film Competition is a partnership between Screen Education Edinburgh, Edinburgh International Film Festival and Arts & Creative Learning, City of Edinburgh Council
