Festivals and Shows in Cornwall
We’re now within the realms of festival season and a mighty fine list of family friendly events will be happening over the next few months.
In Cornwall, festival season is hugely diverse. Sometimes practical and informative and sometimes quirky and eccentric – you’ll find everything here, from an eclectic mix of traditional village fetes, coastal sand-castle building or kite flying fairs, food and drink festivals, large and small agricultural shows, music festivals – the list is endless and there’s no excuse to say there’s nothing happening in the area this summer.
These fun-filled events foster a sense of community spirit and a welcome feeling of inclusiveness. Besides it’s a great excuse to get to know your neighbours a little bit better.
Read on for more information about local festivals in the area, and remember to look at the What's On in Cornwall listings to find even more events…
Redruth’s Murdoch Day: Saturday 15 June
Murdoch Day is Redruth's big day and really gets right to the heart of what the town is all about – its heritage, history, industry, but most of all community. To be held on Saturday 15 June the day celebrates pioneering inventor William Murdoch, who was the first to use gas lights indoors at his home in Cross Street. Events and activities on the day will run from 10am - 5pm. More details can be found on the website www.visitredruth.co.uk or take a look at Facebook - RedruthTown.
The Royal Cornwall Show: Thursday 6 to Saturday 8 June
This year’s Royal Cornwall Show, from 6 to 8 June, is shaping up to be a real summer cracker. In the main ring the Adrenaline Tour Moto-X and quad bike stunt team will provide fast-paced, death defying thrills and the equine stars and stunt rides from Poldark will show off their moves. Plus, the RAF Falcons parachute display team will drop in on all three days. Add thousands of animals, over 1000 trade stands plus so much more and the whole family will be kept occupied for hours. Launceston Show: Thursday 25 July

Wilder Festival 2019: Sunday 26 May
The Wilder Festival is a naturally wild day out, where families can celebrate wildlife and wild places in Cornwall for free. Join in the free fun at the Mount Pleasant Eco Park in Porthtowan, Truro for a wonderfully wild day filled with wildlife workshops for children and adults.
Visitors will be treated to forest schools, advice from the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, foraging and feasting, live music, street food, the animals of Feadon Farm Wildlife Centre, bird-ringing demonstrations with the Cornwall BTO and welly-wanging! Workshops will be available throughout the day, but youngsters will be able to show their love for wildlife by joining in with the Wilder Festival’s children’s parade at 3pm. Children can get really creative and dress up as any woodland animal or plant, bug or marine creature and join the parade around this wonderful site. Face painting and some costumes and masks will be available.
