Your Birthday Party Package
Birthday parties are most suitable for those aged 5- to 12-years-old but other children are welcome to attend.
TIMINGS
Parties start at 1100 and 1230 on Saturdays and Sundays only. We recommend that you stay for approximately 4 hours but, there is no finish time, so you can stay and play until closing time if you want.
ACTIVITIES
Visit a 3D mini blockbuster film in the IMAX cinema as well as exploring the Science Galleries.
1100 parties will see Animal Kingdom 3D. Journey across planet Earth as we meet the mightiest families in the Animal Kingdom and find out how they keep the planet working as it should. Take flight with the birds, get busy with the insects, dive into oceans and coral reefs, meet reptiles and amphibians and get moving with mammals in this exciting 3D adventure. This film is rated U so is suitable for all ages and we particularly recommend if most of your guests are under 8-years-old or you have a mixed group. 1230 parties will see Flying Monsters 3D. 220 million years ago, as dinosaurs were beginning their domination of Earth, another group of reptiles was about to make an extraordinary leap. Pterosaurs were taking control of the skies. The story of how and why these mysterious creatures took to the air is more fantastical than any fiction. Join us for an immersive IMAX mini-feature to unravel one of science’s more enduring mysteries, discovering that the marvel of pterosaur flight has evolutionary echoes that resonate even today. This film is rated U so is suitable for all ages but we particularly recommend if most of your guests are over 8-years-old. COST
Birthday parties cost £20 per child. Each party must have a minimum of 10 children and a maximum of 25. The maximum total number of people who can attend a party is 30.
You need to have one adult for every five children attend your party as a helper, they are free of charge. Any additional adults who wish to attend pay standard admission prices, including the IMAX Theatre. Parking is free for the person who booked. Normal car parking charges apply to other adults attending.
A deposit of £100 is required to secure your party.
MENU
Your package includes a platter of mixed sandwiches and one hot food option. This is accompanied by bottomless fruit squash and ice cream.
Hot food options are: Pizza slices served with chips or Tasty Bites (fish, chicken and vegan) served with chips. Full details of the available food (with allergen information) is in the FAQ's below.

Where can my guests drop off their children?
Parents and guardians dropping off children for a birthday party may park in the drop-off area for no more than 5 minutes in front of the main building. Visitors staying for the duration of the party may park in our car park. Collect your parking ticket and get it validated by a member of staff.
Where can my guests pick up their children?
Parents and guardians picking up their children after a birthday party should visit the Ticket Desk and let a staff member know which party their child is attending. A parent/guardian from the party will escort the child to meet his or her parent(s).
Can I bring my own birthday cake?
Yes! Please note that we do not allow Sparkle flames on the cake.
What are the food options?
Please choose one option from below:
Pizza party slices - cheese and tomato pizza served with fries ( Allergens: Gluten, Milk)
Tasty Bites - mix of fish goujons, chicken goujons and vegan style chicken strips served with fries. (Allergens: Gluten, Milk, Soya, Fish - may contain Egg, Celery, Sesame, Mustard)
Please note while we will do our best to accommodate dietary requirements in the case of severe allergies we may have to recommend that the child with the allergy brings their own food. We can offer an individual meal from the options above different to the rest of the party if it is required for an allergy sufferer. Please note our kitchen is not nut free.
Can parents attend my child’s party?
You must have one adult for every five children attend your party as a helper, they are free of charge. Any additional adults who wish to attend pay standard admission prices.
Can I or my guests use my Science Passport Membership to get into a birthday party for free?
As Birthday Parties are private events, children attending parties must be paid for at the full price of £20 even if they have a Science Passport.
Adults attending with a Science Passport can attend free of charge but need to pay £3.50 for IMAX if they are attending the film.
Can I bring my own decorations?
Yes! You may bring decorations as long as they do not hang from the ceiling or walls. Please note that we do not allow helium balloons in the Science Centre.
We will provide ‘Happy birthday’ pop up banners to have on display in the party area.
The Science Centre will provide all tableware and utensils you will need for your birthday party. You are welcome to bring in your own supplies if you have something themed or specific you would prefer to use.
Can I make changes to my party and if so, up until when?
A final headcount and payment of the final balance is required 7 days before the party. Any changes after this point may not be able to be accommodated.
If I cancel my party, will I get a refund?
Should the Glasgow Science Centre be required to cancel the event for reasons beyond its control, the client will be notified immediately, and have the option of rescheduling or receiving a full refund.
Should the client elect to cancel their party with more than 4 weeks' notice the client will be able to apply their original deposit towards rescheduling their party within 1 year from their original party date. If less than 4 weeks' notice is given the deposit will not be refunded.
If the client opts to cancel less than 7 days in advance the full amount for the party is non-refundable.
